For many people the boost in feeling and enjoyment we get from having a clean car well outweighs the detailing fee. But what if we said the true cost of detailing was actually free or significantly reduced?
Sounds crazy at first right, but let's take a look!
Take for example the luxury SUV, the Yukon Denali, starting at $74,805, or nicely equipped for about $82,000. Let's say you hold onto your SUV for about 5 years, and get it detailed once per year for $329 (i.e. the cost of Fresh Start's Full Premium Detail for a third row SUV). That's $1,645 in detailing cost over 5 years. Now let's look at Edmunds book values for 5 year old Yukon Denalis. All else equal, the difference between the same 2017 Yukon Denali in rough condition versus outstanding condition is $2,663, well exceeding the detailing cost.
While we realize there are many factors that go into the resale or trade-in value of your car including the mechanical condition, there's no doubt the overall shape and cleanliness of the car is a significant factor. After all, who wants to buy a dirty car?
It's safe to say that even if your detailing fee is not completely recouped, you will at least get back a portion of it when it comes time to sell or trade it in.
Pretty sweet deal considering you get to enjoy the perks of a fully detailed car while you have it!
